What documents do I need to import goods into India?
You will generally need a commercial invoice, packing list, and the bill of lading or airway bill from your carrier. An Importer Exporter Code (IEC) from DGFT is mandatory for commercial imports. Depending on the product, you may also need a certificate of origin or approvals from agencies such as BIS or FSSAI for regulated goods.
How long does customs clearance take at Delhi Airport?
For air cargo with complete and correct documents, customs clearance at Delhi Airport is often completed within one to two working days. Timelines can stretch if customs raises queries, orders an examination, or if documents need correction. Having a CHA pre-check your paperwork is the best way to keep things moving quickly.
What is a CHA and why do I need one?
A CHA — Customs House Agent, now officially called a Customs Broker — is a licensed professional authorised to file customs documents on behalf of importers and exporters. Only a licensed CHA can transact business with Indian Customs for you. Your CHA classifies goods, files the bill of entry or shipping bill, and coordinates with officers until your cargo is released.
How are CHA and freight charges calculated?
CHA charges typically depend on the shipment type, the number of documents filed, and the work involved at the port or airport — most CHAs quote a service fee per consignment plus reimbursable expenses like custodian charges and transport. Freight charges depend on the mode (air or sea), weight or volume, route, and current carrier rates. We always share a clear, itemised quote before you commit, so there are no surprises.
Do you handle both air and sea cargo?
Yes. We handle air cargo through Delhi Airport and sea cargo moving through the NCR dry ports (ICDs), where containers are cleared and then transported to and from the seaports by rail or road. We can also combine freight forwarding with customs clearance for a door-to-door service.
I’m importing for the first time — can you help?
Absolutely — many of our clients were first-time importers when they came to us. We explain each step in plain language, tell you exactly which documents you need, and handle the customs filing and coordination for you. All you need to start is your IEC and your supplier’s invoice and packing list.
What is a dry port (ICD)?
A dry port, officially called an Inland Container Depot (ICD), is an inland terminal where customs clearance for sea cargo happens away from the seaport. Containers move between the ICD and the seaport by rail or road. For businesses in Delhi NCR, ICDs mean you can clear sea cargo locally instead of dealing with a distant seaport.
Which areas do you serve?
We are based in Dwarka, New Delhi, and serve importers and exporters across Delhi NCR — including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.
